Established In 1979

Slough Taekwondo Club was founded by two Singapore Chinese brothers, Toh Kok Leong and Toh Kok Sum, who came to study at Slough College. Whilst in Slough they met up with some local martial arts enthusiasts and  Slough Taekwondo Club was formed.

The Club was very popular amongst young budding martial artists from the local community, and between 1979 -1984 the Club produced several Regional, National and International Taekwondo Champions.

However one of the brothers then returned to Singapore and the other ventured in to the restaurant business and the Club was disbanded.  A few hardcore members reassembled and resumed training in a multi storey car park behind The Pied Horse pub in Slough High Street.

The group then could afford to hire out a hall at the local Sports Centre (Montem), with the highest grades taking turns in teaching their fellow students.

Leading UK Taekwondo Club

They then requested Toh Kok Sum to return as Chief Instructor, however due to work commitments this was not a permanent solution.  Eventually Toh Kok Sum invited a 5th Dan Korean Master from Kenya to take over the Club. The Club again flourished and re-established itself as one of the leading Taekwondo Clubs in the United Kingdom.

The Korean Instructor taught until 1993, however due to unforeseen circumstances the Club again went into decline.

Eventually the Club was revived by one of the founding members Robbie Lazan, who was elected to be the Chief Instructor by his fellow students in 1993. The Club struggled financially to regain its former status as no real structure had been established in previous years.

After many years of reconstructing and reconciliation the Club's position as an organisation was established and now Slough Taekwondo Club is a recognised organisation within the Berkshire catchment area.

We proudly celebrate more than 40 years of Taekwondo skill knowledge and experience, which we pass onto our Local Community for their personal protection, health, well-being and self-development.

Regardless of all the trials and tribulations, Slough Taekwondo Club is still "Alive & Kicking".
